CILS Benefactors Inc. a 501c3 charity, and Yorkhill Limited, a Colorado non-profit entity, in cooperation with law faculties in Eastern Europe, the former republics of the Soviet Union, and Africa and Asia, annually offer short-term teaching appointments to senior lawyers from Common Law countries. A “senior lawyer” has accumulated at least 15 years of significant experience in the practice area in which he or she proposes to lecture. The term of teaching may be from two to four weeks and the length of appointment and exact dates of teaching are subject to negotiation between the appointee and the host university. Subject areas are not limited, but there is special interest in corporate and business law, intellectual property, litigation, arbitration, constitutional law, and criminal procedure.
